"I'm always looking for a mission. What better reason to fly than a VAC run? And you're getting to know other pilots and serving with them in a unique way."
- Gary Applebaum
Flying VAC missions lets you accomplish something important while maintaining your proficiency.
Because our focus is on wounded warriors, veterans and their families, we recruit pilots who will represent us with dignity and professionalism. This helps families feel safer and more confident on flights, as many of them have never flown in smaller aircraft.
The VAC desires, when practical and safe, to schedule two instrument-rated pilots on each mission. This enhances safety, and it lets our volunteer pilots share the workload and enjoy camaraderie.
Pilots can volunteer for a few flights per year or several a month.
